<image:title>About the Trainer - Phoebe Harper rides and trains horses because she loves it.</image:title>
<image:caption>That’s the long and the short of it, really. A lifelong equestrian, Phoebe’s philosophy on the relationship between horses and humans is simple: it should be fun. Having spent her childhood galloping bareback through the vineyards on her senior Appaloosa in Napa, Phoebe knows that showing isn’t the only path in the equestrian world. Her passion for learning has exposed her to many different training styles and philosophies, from dressage to reining to ranch riding to jumping and more, and she’s never found any of it boring, unlike her brief foray into a desk job in college. Phoebe’s diverse professional background actually began with the circus - no, really. As an entertainment professional, Phoebe spent several years working for Cirque du Soleil, touring with a musical, and working on cruise ships, and has not one, but multiple stories about angry clowns to prove it. Phoebe moved home to be near her family in 2016, and since then has been heavily involved in the Sonoma & Marin County horse communities in many capacities, including 3 years as an equine vet tech with a mobile veterinary service, and worked for several other local dressage trainers before devoting herself full time to H2. Phoebe’s interests outside of horseback riding include adventures with her assistant (a Golden Retriever), watching bad reality TV, and an endless quest for the perfect truffle cheese.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Welcome to H²! Have you been looking for an equestrian program that places the relationship between horse and human above all else? Are you feeling burnt out by highly competitive training programs that make you miss the days when riding was fun? Do you want to join a welcoming and inclusive community of people brought together purely by their love of horses? Welcome to H²! H² is a unique training and lesson program in Petaluma, CA. While our first love is dressage, we offer a riding and training program designed to help riders of all disciplines create a better bond with their horses and improve their skills. Using a science-based approach that combines equine and rider biomechanics with principles of positive reinforcement and correct fundamentals, head trainer (and Chief Horse Girl) Phoebe Harper helps all kinds of horse owners find their riding bliss again. We’re so glad you’re here!</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Human Philosophy - H² believes that all people should have the opportunity to enjoy the love of horses.</image:title>
<image:caption>H² operates under a few simple guiding principles: We believe that Black, Indigenous, and LGBTQ lives matter. We believe that there is no human “too” anything to ride or enjoy horses - we welcome all body types, neurotypes, and physical/intellectual abilities. This sport is for everyone. At H², no matter what discipline you ride or what your experience level is, you will be welcomed and supported. We reject the notion that good horseback riding requires a specific type of horse, a specific body type, a specific skin color, etc. If you want to ride, you are an equestrian - no ifs, ands, or buts! H² is proudly LGBTQ-owned and operated.</image:caption>

<image:title>Training - H² utilizes a science-based approach to horse training.</image:title>
<image:caption>This means that we do not employ methods that are known to cause harm to our horses’ physical and mental wellbeing. We use a combination of positive reinforcement and classical dressage principles to train horses that are eager and willing to work. We believe in a slow and steady approach that builds a horse’s confidence and skills from a foundation of mutual trust and respect. Our program works best for owners who want to be active participants in their horse’s training. We require a minimum of one lesson per week in either groundwork or riding for you and your horse to work together, depending on your comfort and experience level. We specialize in helping owners feel comfortable and confident handling and riding their own horses - whether you’re dealing with behavior problems on the ground or under saddle, we can help you better understand your horse and find a path forward that works for you both. Please note: it has been our experience that horses with severe behavioral problems are generally horses who are uncomfortable. We will solicit help as needed to ensure a horse has everything it needs physically and mentally before beginning training - that means veterinarians, farriers, saddle fitters, and other equine professionals depending on the situation. If you do not own a horse, we also have limited availability for lessons on our school horses, with discounts available for paying monthly. We also provide horse shopping assistance for people in search of their next equine partner - we have a 100% success rate of matching people with the right horse! Our trainer can help you through the entire process, from finding horses to try, to pre-purchase exams, to bringing the horse home. Please contact us for pricing and available training options.</image:caption>
